How it works
To show a film in public, a screening license is required by law. This applies whether your event is free to the public or a ticketed performance. For general information on why this is necessary, read the UK Government’s "Showing films and TV shows in public" information.
External Funding Support
Organisations looking to cover screening costs may be eligible for third-party support. The BFI FAN Film Exhibition Fund provides "Pitch Pot" grants specifically to help UK exhibitors with licensing and event fees. These funds are administered independently by the British Film Institute. Please consult the BFI FAN website for eligibility criteria and application deadlines.
Pricing
License fees are based on the event type and venue capacity, starting at £300 for academic licensing.
Commercial Rights
The license permits the sale of tickets and the commercialisation of the event.
Marketing Support:
Each booking includes promotional materials (such as stills) to assist with event publicity.
In person only
Please note due to rights limitations; online or virtual screenings are not currently available.
