Into the Darkness

1 x 35 mins / 1 x 95 mins
Directed, Filmed & Edited by Paul Wyatt

Fred Deakin sold over half a million records as one-half of Noughties dance band Lemon Jelly. The Lasters is Fred’s return to the live stage, a bold and commercially risky concept album, a format out of style even at the height of its fashion in the 70s.

Paul Wyatt’s documentary Into the Darkness goes behind the scenes of The Lasters album and the preparations for two sold-out live shows in London, capturing the nerves, excitement, and some of the drama of Fred Deakin’s “Stratospherically Out There” returns to the live stage. Includes excerpts from The Lasters Live Show filmed at the Network Theatre. Two versions of the film were produced. One contains the full gig performance, and another shorter version features excerpts only.
